Inter are keeping an eye on Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo with a view to a possible Summer transfer window move for him according to a report in today’s print edition of Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

The Spaniard, who is a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, has been with Benfica since January 2016 and recently signed a new contract that runs to the end of the 2022/23 season that contains a €60 million release clause.

Inter, as per the report, have had scouts watch the 24-year-old on a few occasions this season and also made some enquiries about him during the recent January transfer window.

Inter are however not alone in courting the left back with it understood that both Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona are both also interested in signing him up.

This season Grimaldo has been near ever present for Benfica having appeared in all barring three of their 36 competitive games to date. In just under 3000 minutes, he has scored one goal and provided seven assists for teammates.
