Legendary Barcelona and Brazilian national team attacker Rivaldo is the latest in a long line of people to have commented on the speculation that Lionel Messi could be set to leave Barcelona.
Inter are one of a host of clubs to be linked with the multi-time world player of the year, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest ever footballers.
Messi, as per reports, has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave Barcelona for free in the Summer and this news has sent the media into a frenzy.
“I’m not buying the speculation about a potential Lionel Messi move from Barcelona at the end of the season,” he said in an interview with Betfair.
“Honestly, I think he will end his career at Camp Nou. He has been one of us since he was 14-years-old. He has a big affection for the club and the club for him, so I don’t think he would benefit from leaving.”Riv
He then went on to admit he sees him as someone who will be a one club man: “I see him as a player of just one club, like Francesco Totti in AS Roma or Rogério Ceni at São Paulo.”
Next Rivaldo spoke on possible destinations he thinks Messi could possibly go to if he decides he wants to leave the reigning Spanish champions.
“It’s tough to conceive of the idea of watching Messi playing against Barca in the Champions League, so even if he leaves in the future I imagine him more outside Europe, in China or the MLS on a transfer motivated more by financial than sporting reasons.”
The one time Balon d’Or winner concluded the interview by sharing his views on the reports linking Juventus with a possible move for the Argentine.
“Other rumours mention Juventus as another possible club for Messi and there he could form a delightful partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo. That seems highly unlikely. Yes, it would be a pleasure to see two huge players playing together, but I don’t see it as a realistic move.”
