In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today, legendary Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic has shared his thoughts ahead of Inter’s meeting with another of his former employers Lazio this weekend.

Inter and Lazio both find themselves fighting for the Serie A title after 23 games played and this match could prove decisive in where the title ends up come the end of this season.

Stankovic firstly started the interview by admitting, “I am not surprised that Lazio and Inter are in a title challenge.”

He then shared his delight at seeing Lazio, who he spent six years of his playing career with, doing so well.

“I’m very happy for Simone Inzaghi, it’s a great surprise, if Lazio manages to stay fresh until the end of the season, then they will fight for the Scudetto together with Inter.”

Next the Serbian, who is currently the manager of Red Star Belgrade, spoke on Inter, where he spent nine years, in which he won everything barring a Europa League trophy.

“With Conte Inter has transformed, they have picked up many more points. Conte is someone who does not give up an inch and sticks with his ideas. If it suits you, OK, otherwise you’re out.”

During his stint with Inter, the now 41-year-old, made no less than 326 appearances across all competitions. He scored 42 goals and provided 50 assists for his teammates in that time.
