Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed the club’s interest in bring Tottenham Hotspur centre back Jan Vertonghen back to the club.

Vertonghen’s contract with the north London club is due to expire at the end of this season and as time passes, it is becoming increasingly likely that he will leave the club once his contract expires.

The Belgian international has drawn links to several clubs aside from Ajax with a number of Italian reports stating that Inter have shown an interesting in adding the 32-year-old defender to their ranks.

“He is a player that interests us because he already has an important past with Ajax,” ten Hag, who has been in charge at the Johan Cruijff ArenA side since December 2017, explained in an interview with Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport.

Vertonghen has been with Spurs since the Summer of 2012 and has went on to make no less than 307 appearances across all competitions for the Lilywhites in the time since. This season he has made 22 appearances, in which he has contributed one goal and one assist.
