Inter Striker Romelu Lukaku’s Brother Jordan: “I’ve Struggled To Accept How Journalists Treat My Brother”

In an interview with broadcaster Eleven Sports, Lazio full back Jordan Lukaku has come to the defence of his elder brother and Inter superstar, Romelu.

Jordan, who is a year younger than his brother, started by admitting that he has found it hard to see criticism thrown in the direction of Romelu, particularly when it comes to the Belgian national team, who Romelu is in fact the all time top goalscorer for.

“I have struggled to accept how many journalists treat my brother. First it was Benteke, he got injured and Romelu played against Croatia. They said ‘oh my god we have to play Romelu’. He scored two goals and secured qualification,” he began the interview.

Next he went on to discuss how his brother was treated by the Belgian media during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“In the World Cup, he started poorly and Origi played. Wesley Sonck said ‘Romelu is young but so is Divock, I think we have found our striker for the next 10 years. He reminds me of Il Fenomeno [Ronaldo].’

“Okay…which were the most important goals he scored? Against the USA? No? Who scored? Romelu. Who assisted Kevin De Bruyne? Romelu.”

Lukaku, who has been on Lazio’s books now for little over three and a half years now, then went on to speak about the player his brother was then compared with, Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.

“Then there was Michy, I love him but blood is blood. When he plays and scores I am happy but people say they prefer Michy? Why? His technique? He’s nice to watch?”

In conclusion, Lukaku questioned why it is only his brother that has received such treatment during his career.

“Goals are what you want from a striker but that is not enough now. You need to have fakes and skills. What do you want?

“All the strikers who competed with him were seemingly better than him but why has this just been with him? Because it is just him, no one else.”
