In an interview with ilsussidiario.net, legendary Inter player Sandro Mazzola has shared his thoughts ahead of tonight’s clash between Inter and Lazio.

Lazio are set to play host to Inter at the Stadio Olimpico later on today in a match that sees two Serie A title challengers go head-to-head and Mazzola, who spent his entire playing career on Inter’s books, has shared his excitement ahead of the meeting.

“It will be a good game, but not yet a decisive match for the Scudetto. There is still the whole season ahead! As always, it will be an important match for both teams.”

Next he was asked if Inter losing to Napoli in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi final should set alarm bells ringing for Inter manager Antonio Conte.

“Losing does not please anyone but there is still the return leg in Naples. Anyway, Inter have had a season well above expectations.

“In every match they always play to the maximum and even in the derby they managed to come from two goals down and win big. Inter really show a lot of determination and character every time they play.”

He then went on to speak about Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, who joined the club in a club record transfer deal from Manchester United this past Summer.

The 26-year-old Belgian settled in almost immediately upon his arrival, has scored goals for fun and is currently the team’s top goalscorer this season with 21 goals to his name across all competitions.

“He has been a truly a successful purchase. He is a striker who scores goals, participates in the team’s build up play and is a real driving force. I must say that he is really strong. He is a champion and he could have done well even in the Grande Inter of the 1960s.”
