The price of San Siro and the surrounding area has more than doubled meaning Inter and AC Milan’s total investment in their new stadium project will be in excess of €1.3 billion according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere della Sera.

The San Siro, which opened in 1926 and was initially only used by AC Milan before Inter became joint tenants after the second world war, was originally valued at €70 million but is now being valued at €150 million, including the surrounding area, by the Milan city council.

The stadium itself, which was last renovated ahead of the 1990 World Cup, is valued at €50 million and the land around the historic stadium is being valued at €100 million.

Both Inter and AC Milan have given the go ahead to the revised figure and further meetings between the clubs and Milan city council are due to take place soon.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to provide an update with regards to the extra buildings that the clubs want to build. The Nerazzurri and Rossoneri want 180,000 cubic metres of additional buildings such as offices, restaurants and shops but the city council only want to grant them 95,000.
