Samir Handanovic could return from injury for Inter’s next league match with Sampdoria according to a report from the online edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Slovenian international shot-stopper has missed Inter’s past three games across all competitions due to a hairline fracture in the small finger in his left hand but he is close to being able to make a return to action.

Handanovic’s condition is now being evaluated daily by club medical staff but Thursday’s Europa League round of 32 first leg tie with Ludogorets is likely to come just too soon for the 35-year-old and therefore Daniele Padelli will deputise in his absence for the fourth consecutive game.

Handanovic’s return will come as a welcome boost to Inter who have definitely faltered in his absence losing two of the three games he has missed with Padelli not entirely convincing anyone with any of his appearances.
