Following Inter’s loss to Lazio, Inter manager Antonio Conte reflected on the match in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV.

Conte watched his side lose for what was the second time in as many games at the Stadio Olimpico as second half goals from Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic cancelled out Ashley Young’s first half goal for Inter to give the hosts a huge 2-1 win.

As a result of the win, Simone Inzaghi’s Biancocelesti side have leapfrogged Conte’s side, who have slid down to third place due to this result and fellow title chasers Juventus also winning over the course of the weekend.

“The small details were decisive in this match. The game was very balanced but their two goals could have been avoided and we have to improve a lot from this point of view,” the former Italian national team manager began the interview.

“We have given two gifts to a quality important in such an important match. For this I am sorry because the boys certainly gave everything they had.

“I’m not angry, because the the attitude shown was the right one. I’m sorry that in the second half we went back onto the field a little restless.”

He was then asked if he thinks his team still has to improve in certain aspects of the game following a number of lapses in concentration during the game, some of which proved costly as both goals came off the back of such lapses.

“The margins for growth are there, I have told the boys this. Today [last night] I have no concerns regarding their commitment but we need to improve as individuals, the boys must continue to want to grow.

“We must have strength because if we want to continue to grow and have the ambition to continue to annoy those at the top both this year and in future seasons, we must understand that improving as individuals helps the entire team.”
