Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has agreed to extend his contract until the end of the 2021/22 season according to a report from the online edition of Rome based newspaper La Repubblica.

Ausilio first started working for Inter in a role to do with the youth academy and he took up his current position with the club at the beginning of 2014 and his contract with the club was due to expire at the end of this season.

The signing of Marcelo Brozovic from Dinamo Zagreb was one of the first moves he made. He was also key in the signings of Milan Skriniar from Sampdoria, Stefan de Vrij on a free transfer and Lautaro Martinez from Racing Club.

Reports in the media in recent months and and as recently as last month suggested that Inter were weighing up replacing Ausilio with someone new but the pending renewal will put an end to the recent speculation concerning Ausilio’s future with the club.
