In an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV earlier on today, legendary full back Andreas ‘Andy’ Brehme, spoke on how it felt to be back in Milan to visit the newly opened Inter headquarters.
“I really like to come back here to Milan. I still have many friends here, including some former teammates. We have went out to eat several times together. Today I visited the new headquarters for the first time, it is beautiful and very big,” he said.
The former German national team defender then went on to stress that despite the recent loss to Lazio, Inter still very much remain in the race to win the Serie A title come the end of this season.
“Inter are playing well. They drew 1-1 at home against Atalanta, who are a great team. Let’s say that two points were lost against Cagliari when they drew and it is a pity how the match at the Olimpico against Lazio went but the title race is not over, Inter have played very very well.”
Next Brehme sang the praises of Ashley Young, who joined Inter from Premier League side Manchester United during the recent January transfer window.
“The Englishman is a great footballer, he has played for many years in England. I think he is a strong full back, both technically and mentally.”
In conclusion he spoke on Inter’s next Serie A match which comes at home to lowly Sampdoria this weekend.
“Inter need three points if they want to win the Scudetto. It will be a great match. Inter will definitely win.”
Brehme joined Inter in the Summer of 1988 from Bayern Munich and would spend four years with the club, during which time he made 155 appearances across all competitions. He won three trophies with the club, one Serie A title, one Italian Super Cup and one UEFA Cup.
