Jan Vertonghen is the latest player that Inter could try and sign on a free transfer this Summer according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The 32-year-old centre back is out of contract with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur come the end of this season. Whilst it cannot be ruled out that he will stay, his agent is currently offering his client out to top clubs to see if there is any interest.

Aside from Inter, it is understood that the Belgian national team defender’s former employers Ajax are keen on a reunion with them.

The report goes on to state that Napoli’s Dries Mertens remains a target on a free transfer for the Nerazzurri, who face competition from Monaco.

The Rome based newspaper go on to add that Olivier Giroud may also end up joining Inter on a free transfer. The Frenchman drew very strong links to Inter during the recent January transfer window but nothing materialised. It could however be a different story in the Summer if he becomes a free agent.
