Marco Tronchetti Provera, the chief executive of Inter’s long standing main shirt sponsor Pirelli, believes that Inter have as good a chance as the other sides do to win the Serie A title come the end of the season.
The ongoing title race in Serie A is one of the tightest seen in a great number of years. Reigning Italian champions Juventus are top of the table with 57 points, Lazio are in second place with 56 points and Inter are in third with 54 points to their name.
Speaking to the gathered media at an event earlier on today, Tronchetti Provera dismissed the idea that Inter’s chances of being crowned champions of Italy for the 19th time in history have been reduced after the Nerazzurri’s loss to Lazio this past weekend.
“Have Inter’s chances reduced after the defeat against Lazio? No, they come out of this match with a need to continue working for a difficult battle with two strong teams,” he began.
He then went on to stress that he believes that none of the three sides are any more favoured to win the title than the others.
“Inter have the same odds as the others. Nobody has the Scudetto in their pocket yet and I hope that in the end someone the Nerazzurri can win it.”
He concluded by speaking on Inter new boy Christian Eriksen: “We are only at the beginning, he is a champion who will give Inter a lot.”
