Besiktas have come out with an official statement denying claims that have been made in the media in the past few days that former Inter player Adem Ljajic has contracted Coronavirus.

The Serbian international attacker was admitted to hospital having had to stop training as he showed signs of a high fever which led to lots of speculation that he may have contracted the virus which is now spreading across Europe having first started out in Wuhan, China.

Ljajic has been diagnosed with cryptic tonsillitis, a kind of tonsillitis that comes with a high fever, and his condition is now stable, the club have confirmed.

The 28-year-old joined his current employers this past Summer on a three year deal from Torino and has since went on to make 25 appearances, in which he has scored four goals and provided seven assists.

Ljajic spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Inter from Roma. During his loan spell he made 28 appearances, in which he contributed four goals and tallied three assists.
