Legendary Inter winger Mario Corso has sang the praises of Inter new boy Christian Eriksen after the Danish international attacking midfielder scored his first goal for the club in last night’s Europa League win away to Ludogorets.

“His qualities were known, he just had to play to get into the best condition. I am delighted that Eriksen has arrived because finally after ten years there will be someone at Inter who will be able to score on a free kick,” he told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“He can shoot with his left or right foot and also has great vision. Conte has managed his playing time so far but I believe that now the time has come for him to always be in the starting line-up.”

He then went on to discuss the importance of Romelu Lukaku, who has scored 22 goals across all competitions this season, to Inter.

“He is so important as a reference point. Maybe he sometimes makes some technical mistakes, but he has character, helps the team, fights and scores. The players feel more relaxed with him.”

In conclusion he spoke on the race for the Serie A title.

“I think they [Juventus, Lazio and Inter] are all on the same level. There is still a long way to go this season and it is therefore easy to recover one or two points. Inter will have to improve in some aspects though.”

Corso spent no less than 16 years between 1957 and 1973 on Inter’s books and formed an integral part of Helenio Herrera’s Grande Inter side of the 1960s.

The now 78-year-old, who had a two year spell with Genoa before retiring after leaving Inter, made a total of 495 appearances across all competitions in the Nerazzurri shirt, during which time he scored 92 goals. He won a total of eight trophies during his time at Inter which were four Serie A titles, two European Cup’s and two Intercontinental Cup’s.
