Some Serie A games may have to be played behind closed doors, due to the coronavirus emergency, according to a report from Italian news outlet ANSA today.

The report details how four games have already been postponed due to precautionary measures being taken against the spreading coronavirus, which is already present in the Lombardy and Veneto regions of Italy.

Inter’s game against Sampdoria, Torino against Parma, Atalanta against Sassuolo and Hellas Verona against Cagliari have all been postponed, although the calendar is now incredibly clogged.

Therefore, the chances of some games being played closed doors are rising, the report continues. This may be the only way to guarantee the regularity of the season.

There are now ongoing conversations between the top executives of the Lega Serie A and the Minister of Sport, Vincenzo Spadafora, to discuss the situation and come up with some possible solutions. Inter are concerned that Thursday’s Europa League clash against Ludogorets will be played without a crowd for safety reasons.
