KAA Gent sporting director Michel Louwagie has confirmed that the Belgian Pro League club recently rejected a significant offer for star man Jonathan David.

David is one of the most promising young players out there at the moment and as per reports, there are at least nine top European clubs that are keeping an eye on him, including Inter.

Portuguese giants FC Porto, as per a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, have already seen an offer rejected for the American-born Canadian international, who is primarily an attacking midfielder but also capable of playing at striker or out on the wing.

“In January there was what would have been a club record transfer offer on the table, but we refused it,” Louwagie explained in an interview with Belgian news outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.

“Our goal is to keep this team together, even after the summer. We have extended his contract until 2023 for good reason. We won’t let a player like him go for any less than €25 million.”

David joined his current employers two and a half years ago from Oshawa Internationals and has went from strength to strength in the time since. This season he has made 37 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored 22 times and provided 10 assists.
