Dries Mertens is a doubt for Napoli’s upcoming Coppa Italia semi final second leg match at home to Inter due to injury according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

The 32-year-old Belgian attacker sustained a knock during Napoli’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the Champions League, in which he scored and tied Marek Hamsik’s club record goal tally.

Early indications suggest that Mertens is set to be sidelined for 10 days meaning he will certainly miss Napoli’s Serie A match at home to Torino this coming weekend.

Napoli’s Coppa Italia semi final second leg with Inter is scheduled to take place in nine days time thus meaning he faces a real race against time to be back and he will need some luck too.

The former PSV Eindhoven player has been pivotal for Napoli this season. In 28 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 12 goals and has also tallied five assists.
