Inter could bolster the attacking department at the club over the Summer with the addition of a player on a free transfer according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Napoli’s Dries Mertens or Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud could potentially arrive on free transfers with their contract’s with their respective clubs set to expire at the end of this season.

Mertens is yet to decide where his future lies. On the one hand, he wishes to end his career at Napoli but on the other hand the call to join national team teammate Romelu Lukaku at Inter is strong.

As for Giroud, Inter went in for the Frenchman during the January transfer window but no deal materialised in the end. Inter remain interested although the report suggests they are not quite as interested as they once were in him.

The report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to state that Inter could opt to go for a young forward instead in the shape of KAA Gent’s Jonathan David. The 20-year-old Canadian international has 22 goals and 10 assists in 37 games this term and Gent are believed to want between €20-25 million for him.
