Getafe director Clemente Villaverde has praised Inter following this afternoon’s Europa League last 16 draw which has pitted the two sides against one another.

The first leg is due to take place on March 12 with Inter to play the role of hosts for that one. Getafe will then host the second leg at their Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium the following week on March 19.

“Inter are a very strong team, they are among the most important clubs in Europe and they are demonstrating that. They are doing well in Serie A, fighting for the Scudetto. It will be difficult for us, but a good experience,” Villaverde, who was formerly a director at Atletico Madrid, explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, after the draw.

He then went on to talk about Getafe and what kind of team Inter will be coming up against in the coming weeks: “Inter will find themselves up against a team who are fighting for Champions League qualification who have humility and work hard.”

In conclusion, Villaverde made it clear that the club wish to have their say in the tie.

“All the matches are tough, we play in a particular way. I know Inter and their squad and they will put us in difficulty but we will also have something to say in this double header, we will fight.”

Europa League success aside, Getafe are currently sitting in fifth place in the La Liga table but depending on how results go this weekend, they could find themselves up as high as third place.
