Inter legend Sandro Mazzola has criticised Lega Serie A for the way they have handled the ongoing Coronavirus situation which has led to several games being postponed and meanwhile backed what Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has had to say in relation to it.

A total of nine Serie A games over the past two match days have been postponed as a result of the virus, with both of Inter’s past two league matches among them.

There is currently great confusion about when games will be played and there are a whole array of reports circulating right now which are suggesting possible solutions.

“Beppe Marotta is right , at this point you can talk about a falsified league. It is one thing to play Juventus-Inter today and another in May, when the players could already be looking toward their summer commitments,” Mazzola remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli earlier on today.

“The handling of the affair by the Lega Serie A has not been the best. We are all convinced that people’s health is the most important thing, but there is too much confusion right now.”

Mazzola then went on to praise Napoli for their suggestion to postpone the Coppa Italia semi finals, which are scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, until later on in the season in order for postponed games to be played sooner.

“Napoli proposed the right solution. It is better to postpone the Coppa Italia and play the league immediately, I do not understand why the Lega Serie A has not accepted this proposal.”
