Paris Saint Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has praised Mauro Icardi for the professionalism he has shown whilst on loan at the club.
The recently turned 27-year-old striker joined the reigning Ligue 1 champions this past Summer on a season long loan from Inter and as part of the deal PSG can sign him on a permanent basis for a sum of €70 million.
There have been contrasting reports in the media in the past few weeks regarding PSG’s intentions for the former Barcelona academy player. Some reports have stated they are certain to sign him up whilst others have stated they are not so sure.
“He is very professional and very calm and confident. He arrived late in the summer, without doing the preseason and without adapting to the team,” Tuchel, who has been in charge at the Parc des Princes since 2018, remarked in his pre-match press conference ahead of PSG’s clash with Lyon.
“He played straight away, without the weight of expectation. But everyone can go through a period out of form, a difficult time. But he is on the way back, he wants to play and he wants to score goals. That’s good for us.”
Whilst in the French capital, Icardi has made 30 appearances across all competitions to date. In just under 2000 minutes, he has scored 20 goals and tallied four assists.
