Former Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero discussed last night’s Derby d’Italia between the Bianconeri and Inter, which the Old Lady won 2-0 in the Allianz Stadium in Turin, in an interview immediately after the match with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia after the game.
First, the 45-year-old Italian discussed how he felt that he had seen this result before.
“I feel like I’m seeing a film that has already been seen with regard to Juve. They arrive in trouble and then when they have to win, they do so.
“As the minutes went by, they did very well after the goal. On a general level there’s still a bit of difference between the two teams, at least in the direct clash. Inter still need to grow a bit more.”
Finally, Del Piero discussed the performance of former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen, who failed to unlock the game for the Nerazzurri after being brought on in the second half in place of Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella.
“He’s a player who’s used to playing in space and maybe that’s one of the reasons why he was bought. Today you need to play with a little more risk to win games, especially with the big ones.”
Inter are currently third in the league table after playing 25 games, sitting nine points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus.
The Nerazzurri could reduce the gap to six points, should they beat Sampdoria in their postponed game. The game, however, still doesn’t have a set date for it to be played on yet.
