Marcos Llorente’s agent, Julio Llorente has confirmed that prior to his client’s move to Atletico Madrid this past Summer, there had been discussions with Inter over a potential move.

The 25-year-old midfielder crossed the city divide from arch rivals Real Madrid for a believed sum of €40 million but things could have panned out differently his agent, who is also his uncle, revealed in an interview with Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.it today.

“We had some contact with Inter last summer before his transfer to Atletico Madrid. I met the management of the Nerazzurri to seek an agreement, but they never made an offer to Real,” he said.

The Spaniard, who signed a five year deal with the Rojiblancos, was one of the heroes last night for Diego Simeone’s side as they dumped reigning Champions League champions Liverpool out of the competition with him scoring two of their three goals.

He has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date this season. In just shy of 1000 minutes on the park, the former Alaves loanee has scored three goals and provided a single assist for his teammates, including last nights exploits.
