Spanish giants Barcelona are confident that they can beat both Manchester United and Manchester City in the race for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the British newspaper the Mirror.

The report details how Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola considers the Argentinean the ideal substitute for talismanic forward Sergio Aguero, who has long been the focal point of the Citizens’ attack. Red Devils coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks that Lautaro would be the player to help solve the club’s offensive woes and help bring the club back to the top four next season.

Barcelona, who have followed Lautaro since 2016, consider him the perfect heir to the aging veteran Luis Suarez, who is currently suffering from a long-term injury. The Catalan side are prepared to pay his €111 million release clause. In case of a possible auction, the Blaugrana would use the proceeds from the possible sales of Suarez and Brazilian forward Philippe Coutinho, who is currently on loan with Bayern Munich.
