Inter and Napoli are competing for two players ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
Both clubs are looking to bolster their defensive departments in the coming months and they have both identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen and Olympiacos’ Kostas Tsimikas as transfer targets.
Belgian national team defender Vertonghen’s contract with Spurs is due to expire at the end of the current season thus meaning he could be acquired on a free transfer and it will likely come down to who offers him the most money.
As for Tsimikas, Napoli are already ahead of Inter in the race to sign him, the report goes on to explain. They have made an offer but Olympiacos are continuing to demand €15 million for the full back, a sum of that Napoli deem to be too expensive for the 23-year-old.
