Lega Serie A will meet the clubs tomorrow to discuss the ongoing Coronavirus emergency, the next steps and the controversial topic of players’ salaries, according to a report from Italian news broadcaster ANSA earlier today.
The report details how a digital meeting has been scheduled for 12:00pm tomorrow to discuss what next steps need to be taken in regard to the season, a return to training and a possible calendar. One of the most divisive topics will be regarding players’ salaries and how long they should be suspended for. Italian clubs have suggested that they should not be expected to pay their players a full salary for the stop period.
The AIC disagree, the report continues, and have only agreed for a suspension of players’ salaries for March. Juventus are one step ahead of the rest of the clubs and have already reached an agreement with their squad to cut their salaries for the four month stop period, which will save the Turin based club around €90 million.
