World football’s governing body FIFA are willing to agree to change the dates of the Summer transfer market due to the Coronavirus pandemic according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.
As per the report, the traditional Summer transfer window could begin in mid-August to the end of November or from the beginning of September to just before Christmas.
It is widely expected that spending in the upcoming window, whenever it will be, will be reduced compared to the traditional Summer transfer window due to the huge financial damage that the Coronavirus crisis has had on football.
A number of people in the media have suggested that as a result there could be an increase in swap deals between clubs so they can save cash and try and recover from the financial damage.
If the Summer window is moved to either of the above, it remains to be seen what it would mean for the January transfer window.
