In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia on Wednesday evening, former Inter striker Hernan Crespo spoke on a range of different topics.

Firstly he spoke on former Inter striker Ronaldo and whether or not he was better than Cristiano Ronaldo.

“For people of my generation, Ronaldo was a phenomenon. CR7 had the good fortune, like Messi, to play at the same time and imrpove each other but for Il Fenomeno Ronaldo it was different.

“At the time there was probably not as big a stimulus that Ronaldo and Messi have today to improve even further.

“Without a doubt Cristiano Ronaldo has shown incredible longevity but the way that Ronie got in on goal and the things he used to do to get away from opponents make him unreachable.”

Crespo was then asked to choose who is favourite between compatriots Mauro Icardi, Lautaro Martinez and Paulo Dybala is.

“It depends on the system and who the others around them are. I know Icardi very well and Dybala equally as well and now we are all getting to know about Lautaro.

“Is he the new Aguero? Yes. Maybe he is not as good of a dribbler but he is more of a team player than Aguero is, who is often not interested. Lautaro always participates. He can play alone or in a front two like he is doing now with Lukaku and he can play in a trident.”

Crespo is currently the manager of Superliga Argentina club Defensa y Justicia and he was asked if he would like to manage in Italy in the future, the country where he spent the majority of his career.

“I would like to manage the teams who I played for. I want to go back to San Siro, so long as they do not pull it down. I dream of going back there every day, it is a magical place.”

Crespo then went on to reflect on his time with Inter and reminisced about some of the best times he had whilst on the Nerazzurri’s books.

“I remember scoring a brace against Ajax in Amsterdam. It was a spectacular moment. I also remember winning the Italian Super cup 4-3. We had lost the first leg 3-0 but overturned it in the second leg.

“The years I spent at Inter were magical. When I arrived the team did not win but when I left people were happy as every year we won something and this was a great feeling and what a club like Inter deserves.”

Crespo proceeded to share his hopes to see the Italian season resume and conclude rather than being cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

“I hope it will have an end. I don’t know when, but I think it will happen because it needed for the sake of the European cups

“I think Sarri’s Juventus will be better next year and will be more beautiful. Lazio deserve great credit for what they are doing, as do Atalanta who are doing great things and have a great project despite having less resources.

“Inter know what they are playing for under Conte. They are a pragmatic team that know what they want. You can see from the outside that they have a clear identity. AC Milan are going through a turbulent time at a corporate level so they are struggling.”

In conclusion he was asked who of Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez and Luis Alberto he would most like to have played alongside.

“Unfortunately I do not play anymore so it is difficult to say but I think that Luis Alberto is deal for an attacker like Immobile. Dybala and Higuain are perfect together but I have a lot of curiosity about Lautaro.

“Let’s not forget that this is his first complete season after Icardi leaving and he has already shown so much. It would be very stimulating to see him and his potential up close.”
