Gaetano Castrovilli has appeared to affirm his long term commitment to Fiorentina with him revealing something he dreams of doing with the club.
The Italian national team midfielder has drawn no shortage of links to other clubs in recent weeks and months with it understood that Inter, Juventus and Roma among many other clubs have taken notice of his performances during his breakthrough season in Serie A this term.
“It would be a dream come true for me to play with the number 10 shirt. It’s a magic shirt in general and in Florence it’s even more special, considering the greats who wore it, starting with Antognoni who still is, and rightly so, an institution here today,” he admitted in an interview with Corriere della Sera, which appeared in today’s print edition.
He then went on to reveal that he has a real connection with the city of Florence and how he is treated by Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso.
“The city is wonderful and has welcomed me. I feel very close to Fiorentina, to the people who support me and to the president Commisso, who is always ready to praise me. It’s not easy to have such a natural and immediate connection.”
Next Castrovilli appeared to further affirm his commitment by looking toward the future with Fiorentina.
“This year we have struggled with consistency. We are a new and young group. I think the problems were psychological but the future will be on our side.
“We have laid a solid foundation and we can bother the big clubs. Dragowski is a great goalkeeper, Lirola and Milenkovic are now certainties at the back and I don’t have to tell you about Chiesa. He is a fantastic player, who will be part of the national team for years.”
This season the 23-year-old, who is under contract with La Viola until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored three goals and provided two assists for his teammates.
