A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has analysed the tactical possibilities of playing Italian midfielder Stefano Sensi and Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen together.

The report details how the duo could play in the mezzala role alongside Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in a 3-5-2 system, or in the trequartista role behind a single striker, in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Another possibility would be to lineup the team in a 4-3-1-2 formation, similar to how Carlo Ancelotti’s AC Milan were deployed at the start of the millennium.

One suggestion is to deploy both Eriksen and Sensi in the mezzala role, the report continues, which would allow Inter to look to dominate possession and looking to attack with numbers. Another option would be to play the former Spurs midfielder higher up the pitch, with Sensi playing as a mezzala. Nicolo Barella’s game would be impact but the dribbling quality in midfield would increase exponentially and there would be better chances for Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
