Premier League giants Manchester City are interested in signing Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and are willing to pay his €111 million release clause, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the English tabloid the Sun.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine striker, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has been followed by Catalan side Barcelona for many months know, with star Lionel Messi even suggesting that the player should make the move from Italy to Spain.

However, Manchester City may upset the Blaugrana’s plans, the report continues. Pep Guardiola’s side would be willing to pay all of Lautaro’s €111 million release clause, a fee that Barcelona cannot afford. Chelsea and Real Madrid are also watching Lautaro closely but cannot cover the high costs of the deal.

Guardiola considers Lautaro as the perfect heir to club talisman Sergio Aguero, the report highlights, and the English side will begin negotiations once the Coronavirus emergency is over.
