Manchester City are willing to trigger the release clause in Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s current contract according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.
The 22-year-old Argentine striker has a €111 million release clause in his contract with the club and the clause is only able to be activated by clubs outside of Italy during the first two weeks of July.
Barcelona have shown a very strong interest in signing him too but unlike Manchester City, they appear extremely reluctant to pay his release clause and would instead prefer to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him.
The report however goes on to state that Inter president Steven Zhang and chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta deem the players that Barcelona are seemingly willing to offer as part of a deal as uninteresting.
This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists for his teammates.
