Inter linked River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta’s agent Gustavo Goni has denied having any contact with AC Milan over his client.

“I have to be very honest, I have never had meetings with AC Milan representatives,” he remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

“I know that AC Milan has been to Argentina to watch some River Plate games. I don’t know if Martinez Quarta was the real reason for the mission, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was.”

He was then asked what he made of Inter vice president Javier Zanetti’s recent praise of his client.

“It is always very important to receive praise from such an important former person in Javier Zanetti. It was certainly exciting for him. Will he be the next Argentine to join Inter? I don’t know but I really hope so.”

Next he was asked if there have been any negotiations with Inter about a possible move: “I have not had particular contact with them. Beyond Zanetti’s words, there is not much at the moment.”

Goni then went on to confirm that his client has a release clause and suggested that the global Coronavirus crisis could have an impact on his client’s value.

“Can I confirm that he has a € 22 million release clause? Yes. Will his price be affected by Coronavirus? It could be but much will depend on the offers that will arrive.

“I believe that it will be a different transfer market. There will be a lot of flexibility and imagination and it will be a difficult transfer market.”

The 23-year-old, who holds dual Argentine and Italian citizenship, is a product of River Plate’s famed academy and has a contract with them until the end of June 2021.

This season the highly rated youngster has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has tallied a single assist and helped the team keep many clean sheets.
