Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign Inter owned striker Mauro Icardi according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Spanish club are understood to be on the lookout for a new striker with it widely expected that Diego Costa will depart the club in the coming months.

The Rojiblancos are not alone in showing an interest in him with the report also stating that Inter’s arch rivals Juventus are also keen on signing him.

Icardi is currently out on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint Germain and whilst they have an option to sign him on a permanent basis for €70 million, Icardi does not want to stay in the French capital and would like to return to Italy, where his family is based.

Whilst at the reigning French champions, Icardi has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 20 goals and provided four assists for his teammates.
