In an interview with sports broadcaster ESPN, legendary French centre back Frank Lebouef has shared his views on Inter striker Mauro Icardi’s loan spell with reigning French champions Paris Saint Germain.

Icardi joined the Ligue 1 outfit this past Summer on a season long loan from Inter and PSG have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for €70 million although it remains unclear whether they will take up this option or not.

“If I were PSG would I keep Icardi? Well we have seen two Icardi’s in fact. At the beginning we saw a very good player who was always in the right place and scored many goals and then we saw him not very happy with the coach’s decisions, not really being fit or very concerned about what he has to do in the second part of the season.

“It is hard to make up your mind up about Icardi and to know exactly about if you are really sure if you want to get him.”

The 1998 World Cup winner then went on to state that he thinks there is still more to come from Icardi.

“I think he had a decent season so far. I can bet on him that he can do better and well for Paris Saint Germain so I want to believe he has not shown his best for the moment and can do better.”

He was then asked if he thinks that Paris Saint Germain boss Thomas Tuchel wishes to keep the 27-year-old Argentine around.

“I’m not sure. After the fight they had where Icardi criticised Tuchel at certain points, I’m not sure but we do not really know what is going on with Tuchel.

“What is going to happen with Tuchel? Will he stay or will he go to Bayern Munich? That’s another question so there is lots for Paris Saint Germain’s board to think about before the end of the season.”

Whilst in the French capital, Icardi has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 20 goals and provided a total of four assists for his teammates.
