Inter have a number of potential replacements in mind for if Diego Godin goes on to leave the club in the coming months according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
The 34-year-old defender only joined Inter this past Summer on a free transfer but speculation is mounting that he could be on his way out having struggled throughout the season and having lost his place in the team to Alessandro Bastoni.
As per FCInterNews.it, Inter and Godin could agree to mutually part ways. By parting ways Inter would be able to make a big saving in terms of his wages whilst Godin could move somewhere else where he could play more.
The report goes on to state that Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla and Torino’s Armando Izzo are both candidates to replace Godin at Inter.
It also adds that the Nerazzurr’s interest in Tottnham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen has cooled as they would prefer to focus on younger players such as the two above and players who do not have such high wages.
