Ex-Inter Midfielder Esteban Cambiasso: “I’ve Always Had A Passion For Coaching But Maybe Not At Inter”

Former Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso spoke about football, his passion for coaching and his experiences with Inter whilst talking to Inter vice president Javier Zanetti on Instagram earlier today. His words were noted by Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it.

“I’ve always had a passion for coaching, even on the pitch. I’ve never seen football only as the task I was given, I was trying to understand everyone’s position. Everything has a relationship and I’ve always wanted to know why.”

He revealed that he would like to start coaching in the future and is working towards that goal.

“It’s something I like and I have in mind. As soon as I stopped playing, I worked with Colombia and for me it was a spectacular experience, with a beautiful space to work and a group of players perfect for my first experience in this sense. Let’s say I’m in the studying period.”

Zanetti spoke positively about Cambiasso and suggested that he would be a great coach in the future.

“What I think and what I hope is that it will happen. Football will have a great coach in the future. I’ll stop, I’ll cheer for you.”

Finally, Cambiasso spoke about his chances of coaching Inter and why he might not want to in the future.

“I know that. To those who tell me to coach Inter and to those who write ‘Pupi, take him to Inter’, I think that after the many courses I’ve taken, guys, the person who calls you to offer the job is the same one who will send you home. That’s why the last thing I want is for this phone call to come from Javier! If it happens, I’d like to avoid this suffering in order to maintain the beautiful relationship we have.”

Cambiasso spent 10 years with Inter between 2004 to 2014. In that time, the Argentinian midfielder made 431 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri, for a total of 35 thousand minutes. In that time, he scored 51 goals and provided 34 assists, helping the Milanese club to win five league titles, four Coppa Italia, four Supercoppa Italiana, a FIFA Club World Cup and the coveted Champions League.
