Shanghai Shenhua midfielder Stephane Mbia has revealed that he had contact with Inter among a number of other Serie A clubs over a potential move a couple of Summer’s ago.
The experienced Cameroonian national team player drew links to Inter in the Summer of 2018, a few months on from being released by Hebei China Fortune but ended up joining French side Toulouse on a free transfer instead.
“I can confirm that I had contact with Sampdoria and Inter and also with Torino but in the end nothing materialised and I went to Toulouse,” Mbia explained in an interview with Italian news outlet Europacalcio.it today.
The 33-year-old, who won the Europa League twice whilst with Sevilla, joined his current employers at the beginning of this year and has a contract with them until the end of this year.
However due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic, which originated in China, he is yet to debut for the Chinese capital city club, who former Inter striker Obafemi Martins and former Roma attacker Stephan El Shaarawy also play for.
