Serie A doctors have defended their decision to provide feedback to the FIGC in regard to their Coronavirus safety protocols in a statement made to Italian news outlet ANSA earlier today.
The statement details how the doctors received the organizational and screening protocols proposed by the FIGC Medical Scientific Commission earlier this week, and quickly provided all their thoughts and observations to Lega Serie A and the FIGC, in order to protect the safety of all the player and the staff.
The Serie A doctors also clarified that they are not against the idea of finishing the season, the report continues, and instead want to ensure the safety of all those involved. Some of the doctors feel that a May return may be too early.
A return to training has been anticipated on the 4th of May, due to the statements made by the Italian government. However, some have pointed out that football players are some of the people most at risk from the virus.
