Tibo Persyn’s agent Gunter Thiebaut has stressed that his client is happy at Inter but has revealed there is still no agreement over a contract extension contrary to reports doing the rounds.
Reports in the media as of late have suggested that Inter are ready to give the highly rated Belgian midfielder a three year contract, which will be his first professional deal with the club, who he joined back in 2018 from Club Brugge.
“Tibo is happy and is growing well. He has exploded in recent years, so much so that several clubs have started to enquire about him. Today it is still like that, but Tibo is happy with Inter and Inter is happy with Tibo,” he told Voetbalnieuws.
“There has been some misreporting. The talks are still ongoing but we are open to an extension and Inter would like to keep him. We will have no problems to find an agreement. Now it is more difficult to negotiate in this situation, but both sides are enthusiastic.”
Thiebaut was then asked if he has had any sort of conversation with Inter first team manager Antonio Conte regarding his client, who turned 18-years-old back in March.
“I have not talked to him yet, I only know that Inter are satisfied with Tibo. We have not discussed the opportunity for the player to make the jump to the first team.
“We are in no hurry and we do not make requests. Inter remains a great team. We know that the club believes in him and vice versa. Tibo is already developing well, so Inter is doing excellent work.”
He then went on to discuss comparisons that have been made between his client and Paris Saint Germain and Belgian national team defender Thomas Meunier.
“He is strong and fast and is a bit like Meunier but he is more like Thomas Foket.”
Persyn, who is part of Inter’s Primavera side, has made 23 appearances across all competitions to date this term in which he has scored two goals and provided four assists for his teammates.
