Inter would be in pole position to sign Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if Paris Saint Germain decide to buy Mauro Icardi, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the English newspaper Sunday Express.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are considering signing the 30-year-old Gabonese striker, who is contracted to Arsenal until 2021, as a replacement for Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, who seems destined to join Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window. PSG have also been interested in Aubameyang but are focusing more on signing Icardi.

Aubameyang would cost around €57.2 million, the report continues, which Inter could fund with the proceeds of their sale of Lautaro to Barcelona. The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic is set to heavily affect how much teams will be willing to spend in the summer, leaving Inter as one of the few clubs that would be able to afford the operation. The Gabonese striker has scored 20 goals in 32 appearances so far this season.
