Former Inter defender Ivan Ramiro Cordoba spoke about the future of Inter linked forward James Rodriguez in an interview in today’s paper edition of the English newspaper the Daily Mail.

“James is the best player for us Colombians. It’s up to him, he has everything we need to do well. I would like James to go to England because there are many interesting options for him. He is already in one of the best teams, Real Madrid, but the Premier League would be a great goal.”

Cordoba then suggested that he would love to see the player move to the Nerazzurri instead of the Premier League.

“Although, selfishly, I hope to see him in Italy in my Inter. I hope that one day he can replace me as a Colombian footballer at San Siro. Whoever catches him will still make an excellent purchase. “

The Nerazzurri have been linked with Rodriguez as the club look to strengthen their attacking department in the upcoming summer transfer window. Inter could look to sign the Colombian forward if they sell 22-year-old Argentine star Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona, with the Blaugrana working hard to set up a possible deal.

The 28-year-old Colombian forward, who is contracted to the Spanish club until the end of next season, has made 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 650 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided two assists, struggling to earn consistent playing time under coach Zinedine Zidane.
