Dries Mertens’ future with Napoli continues to hang in the balance according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Belgian national team forward’s contract with Napoli is due to expire at the end of this season and he has the chance to remain with them but he has also received contract offers from both Inter and Chelsea.

Inter have offered him a better deal than what Napoli have but Mertens may opt to decline this offer to move to Chelsea in order to not betray Napoli fans by joining another Italian club.

The report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to state that the presence of Romelu Lukaku at Inter could well help them to land Mertens, given they are national team teammates and close friends.

This season he has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists for his teammates.
