Legendary World Cup winning Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo has dismissed comparisons that continue to be made between him and current Brescia starlet Sandro Tonali.

Since Tonali broke onto the scene, many have likened him to the former Inter, AC Milan and Juventus midfielder for his style of play but Pirlo believes that he and Tonali are not directly comparable as players.

“They say he can be my heir. In my opinion, he is not that like me in a footballing sense, he looks more like me due to his long hair and due to the fact that he also plays for Brescia,” Pirlo explained in an Instagram Live chat with journalist Nicolo Devitiis.

“In my opinion, he is a much more complete player and it a mix between myself and other players.”

He then went on to tip the recently turned 20-year-old to have a bright future in football.

“He is certainly the most promising of the midfielders in Italy. I don’t see him as an heir because the way he plays is different, but he will certainly become a great player.”

In recent weeks and months there has been no shortage of speculation about Tonali’s future with La Rondinelle with him having been linked with Inter and Juvetus among a host of other clubs including Spanish giants Barcelona.

This season he has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored one goal and provided a total of five assists for his teammates.
