Inter and Liverpool are to battle it out for the signature of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Due to each club’s status and ambitions, Werner is open to a move to either side and the report claims that Inter are at an advantage over Liverpool.

Inter intend to sign Werner should Lautaro Martinez leave the club and he will therefore come in as a starter whilst that would not be the case at Liverpool, who are simply looking to complete their already strong attack by signing him.

Moreover, Liverpool are reluctant about spending €50-60 million on a player given the current crisis situation and will not do so unless sales are made.

This season the 24-year-old German national team player has made 36 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists for his teammates.
