Italian Olympic Committee president Giovanni Malago has revealed that he is almost 100 per cent certain that the Serie A season will resume next month on Saturday June 13.

Yesterday Lega Serie A set the above date as the provisional date for the season to resume after that date was preferred to a restart a week later on Saturday June 20.

The season has already been on hold for just over two months as a result of the ongoing global Coronavirus and if all goes to plan it will resume just over three months after it was suspended.

“The Serie A season will restart on June 13, I’m 99.9 per cent sure. I don’t understand the discussion between some medics and the Italian government’s Technical Scientific Committee,” Malago remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai 2 earlier on today.

He then admitted to being uncertain when it comes to when the season may end despite Lega Serie A stating Sunday August 2 as the date the 2019/20 Serie A season will conclude if it resumes on June 13 as planned.

“Everything is being done with the aim of starting again, it is the primary objective. Once it starts again, I don’t know when it will end, you would need a crystal ball for that.”
