Dries Mertens is one step away from becoming an Inter player according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Belgian national team attacker’s contract with Napoli is set to expire at the end of the month and Inter have been negotiating with the player to bring him in on a free transfer.

There has already been documents exchanged between Inter and Mertens’ representatives but a few things still need to be ironed out, namely the signing on bonus and other bonuses.

The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to state that Inter could also bring in Edinson Cavani in the coming months too.

Cavani’s current contract with Paris Saint Germain is due to expire at the end of the month and it is growing increasingly unlikely that he will sign a contract extension.

Inter manager Antonio Conte is also a big fan of Cavani, whose name has come back to the forefront given Lyon’s apparent demands for Moussa Dembele, who Inter have also shown an interest in signing.
