Dries Mertens is yet to accept a move to Inter as staying put at Napoli remains a priority for him according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Inter have offered the 33-year-old Belgian a contract offer given his expiring contract status but he is waiting to hold talks with Napoli president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to discuss his future with the Stadio San Paolo club, who he has played for since 2013.

Di Marzio goes on to explains that De Laurentiis is aware of what he has to do in order to keep Mertens at the club but the more time passes the more complicated reaching a contract renewal becomes.

If Napoli give in to Mertens demands then he would be prepared to stay with the club but Inter are ready and waiting to finalise a deal for him if he gives them the green light.
