Inter target Timo Werner is likely to either move to Liverpool or stay at RB Leipzig for another season, according to a report from International media outlet The Athletic earlier today.
The report details how the 24-year-old German forward has been identified by Inter as a possible replacement for 22-year-old Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, should the player be sold to Barcelona in the summer. Should the European champions fail to sign Werner this summer, the player would stay in Germany for another season with Leipzig.
The reason that he will remain with Leipzig is due to his contract, the report continues. His current release clause is £53 million, which will drop to £35 million in 2021 and to £22 million in 2022. His contract expires with the club in 2023.
Werner has scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists across 36 appearances so far this season, in 2832 minutes. He is one of the most dangerous strikers in Germany this season.
